Intermediate races to pace your trail run training
When you start preparing for a trail run, the training plan can stretch over several months. Between the start of the plan and race day, it is common to want to take part in other races to test yourself, maintain your motivation, or simply take pleasure in competition.
This is exactly what trail secondary goals make possible. Already available for road plans (10 km, half marathon, marathon), this feature is now available for all trail plans and trail base training.
How does it work?
From the Campus Coach app, you can manually add a secondary goal to your current training plan. All you have to do is choose your intermediate race while respecting a few constraints, designed to ensure steady progress and avoid overtraining.
Once set, your secondary goal appears directly in the timeline of your Goals section, just like your road secondary goals. This way, you can clearly see the milestones of your trail season and all your deadlines.
Validating your secondary goals
Once your intermediate race is over, you can validate your goal manually or let automatic synchronization do the work using data from your GPS watch (distance, heart rate, elevation gain…).
Important note: the result of a secondary goal has no impact on the assessment of your level in the app. And that makes sense: an intermediate race is not meant to be run all out. It fits into your overall preparation, like a full-scale training run.
Why is it useful?
Adding secondary goals to your trail training is:
Staying motivated during long preparations by setting intermediate milestones
Customizing your plan by including the races that matter to you
Better structuring your season by visualizing all your key events on a single timeline
Testing yourself in real conditions without affecting the assessment of your level
Whether you are preparing for your first trail run or an ultra, this feature helps you build a complete, motivating season.
